Description of activity
Jenna Ristilä is a Finnish pianist and vocal coach. She is a doctoral researcher at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts, Helsinki, where her artistic doctoral project focuses on Finnish women composers from the 19th century onwards. The project consists of four concerts and an article. In the concerts Ristilä shows how women have used different musical forms, such as salon music and sonata form. Ristilä also experiments with ways of creating more humane and welcoming concert atmospheres through the concept of "subtle activism". In the article she analyses Carita Holmström's Södergran songs through the lenses of dialogic analysis and performer's analysis.
