Marble in Helsinki? Yes!
Few people know this, but there are marble deposits in Finland, and one of them is right here in Helsinki, in Vuosaari.
Join artist Mireia c. Saladrigues for a visit to an abandoned marble quarry to explore the unique characteristics of local marble, learn about its history of extraction, when the quarry closed, and what the marble was used for. We’ll also take a closer look at the rocks on site, including some that show signs of weathering and degradation, especially those that have been exposed to fire for unknown reasons
