Description of activity
I am a professor of music education in the music teacher education programme at the Sibelius Academy, teaching research and pedagogy and supervising masters and doctoral students. The central theme of my research in music education is embodiment, particularly in the integration of music and movement. I have approached embodiment in the light of Merleau-Ponty's phenomenological philosophy. Other areas of my research include equality, interdisciplinarity, global citizenship, evaluation, visions of teaching, and the recent history of music education, among others. My research has focused on music education at different levels and in different contexts.
