Description of activity
Emilia Lajunen's instruments are 5-string violin, nyckelharpa, kontrabassharpa and voice. As an art teacher at the University of the Arts, her work focuses on violin and nyckelharpa instrumental teaching. Lajunen's particular expertise and passion are archival recordings as a source of artistic inspiration, the relationship with tradition, the application of the long aesthetics of poetic song culture to the present time, and the personal playing styles of violinists. The artistic exploration of the musician's simultaneous playing and dancing has guided Lajunen towards a more embodied artistry and has brought a valuable new dimension to her teaching.
