Description of activity
Liedes works as a lecturer in the folk music Department . Her job includes teaching folk singing and ensemble musicianship and the master's seminar, tutoring and mentoring bachelor's and master's students, and evaluating doctorate students' artistic works.
Liedes also works part-time in the project Syvälle (Into the Deep) – Folk music improvisation laboratory. It is a three-year artistic research project funded by the KONE Foundation. It explores the process of generating historically informed, contemporary folk music. The music is based on the intangible cultural heritage of older Finnish and Karelian traditions, which are based on improvisation and variation, repetitive patterns and long duration music making.
